Bouncing high into the sky with unbridled excitement, children of the East Rand Welfare Centre, in Fairleads were treated to a day of fun.
Ensuring that bright smiles stretched along every child’s face, members of the Benoni Police Station’s CPF Youth Desk, entertained, frolicked and spent quality time with the centre’s residents, on May 3.
“While our objective was to ensure that every child had a good time, our primary focus was establishing meaningful connections with all the kids,” said Halima Kadir, chairperson of the Youth Desk.
“We came with the intention to give; but the truth is that our lives were enriched through this initiative.
“The children reminded us of the resilience of the human spirit. The smiles, laughter and the quiet moments of comfort reminded us that service is about presence, kindness and genuine care.”
Kadir continued by thanking the management and team of the centre for affording the volunteers the opportunity to create memorable moments with the centre’s spritely residents.
A special word of thanks was extended to business and individuals who contributed to the day’s success.
