Grannies contribute to community’s comfort

The home’s residents hope their handy work will bring warmth to another.

With a loop and purl, the silver-haired vixens of Eddy House’s Stitches knitting group have made a cosy contribution to the Benoni CPF.

Carefully weaving together pleasing colours, the grannies created 32 blankets, 45 beanie and scarf sets, 22 individual beanies and 17 scarves.

This generous donation will bring comfort to some of the city’s less fortunate to ward off the winter chill.

The Stitches group meet in a sunny corner of the home every week, casting their stitches from one needle to the next, knitting and crocheting goodies with a ‘nana’s stamp of approval’.

Relying on wool donations, these items are gifted to local organisations for distribution among those in need.

For more information or to assist in keeping their yarn spooling, call group co-ordinator Sheila Macclure on 083 748 6759.
