Enjoy a day out at the pipe band regional champs

The day promises to be fun for the entire family.

Tune the chanters and fluff your tams for the 48th annual Pipe Bands’ Association of Southern Africa (PBASA) Regional Championships, hosted by Benoni High School, on July 12.

Following a highly competitive season, the Benoni High Pipe Band hopes to edge higher in the championship rankings before competing in the South African Pipe Band Championships and Champion of Champions gathering, which will this year be hosted by St Benedicts College, in Bedfordview, on July 21.

Come and enjoy the wail of the bag pipes, browse the bustling market, dig into decadent eats or enjoy a refreshing drink at the tea garden, but most importantly support the tartaned participants in their final preparation before competing for national glory.

The day’s festivities gets off to a drumming start at 08:00 and entry is R60 per person, R30 for pensioners and kids under 12 enter for free.

A fee of R20 per vehicle is payable for parking.
