Daveyton professional offers mentorship

Daveyton marketing and communications professional, Nothando Masike, recently hosted a career day to teach the youth about learnerships, internships and graduate programmes.

Industry experts shared their knowledge in fields such as marketing, IT, skills development, investments, finance, and international trade.

“We also addressed the challenges that face young people in our community, such as writing an ATS (Applicant Tracking System) CV for those who don’t have a Grade 12 certificate, and assisted the youth in fulfilling the requirements of a Grade 12 certificate because most don’t have one,” said Masike.

An ATS CV is a resume formatted to be easily scanned and interpreted by recruitment software used by many companies. This type of CV prioritises clear formatting and relevant keywords to ensure it gets past the initial screening process and reaches human recruiters.

“The initiative addressed the high unemployment issues in our community, but it also key professionalism etiquette to present in the workplace. I wanted to challenge the status quo and ensure the community that they can change their lives for the future.”
