Lucas and Joubert show form at championship

The Tenshinkan Karate’s Dante Lucas and Samantha Joubert earned their South African Ryukyu Martial Arts Federation (SAMRAF) colours after their impressive performances at the SAMRAF championships in Sasolburg on July 26.

Lucas clinched two golds in kata and tonfa (weapon baton) and two silver medals in kumite and kon (sticks), while Joubert grabbed a gold in kon, silver in kumite, and bronze in kata.

Instructor shihan Catherine Venter hailed the karateka for their unwavering commitment to the sport, saying she is very proud of them.

The event included karateka from Free State, North West, and Gauteng.
