Dowling powers to national title at Zwartkops
Despite finishing third in the last race of the season, he had done enough to win the championship after a great season overall.
Brodi Cooper Dowling wrapped up a sensational season by clinching the U13 Mini Max title at the South African Rotax Max Kart Challenge nationals at Zwartkops International Kart Raceway in Centurion on August 30.
The St Dunstan’s College learner finished third overall at the Zwartkops leg, placing third in the first race on August 29, winning the second, and securing third place in both the third and fourth races the following day.
Despite the tough competition, Dowling had already done enough to secure the national title and book his place in the South African grand finals team that will compete at the RMC Grand Finals in Bahrain from November 29 to December 6.
“Winning the National Championship means the world to me. It’s been almost two years in the making, spending nearly every weekend at the track, traveling around South Africa and even overseas to gain the experience and confidence I needed to stay cool and focused,” Dowling said.
“The grid was super competitive with 48 Mini drivers around the country, but we did it. I’m so excited to wear my national colours and represent South Africa in Bahrain against the best drivers in the world. I am proud and beyond excited for what’s ahead.”
