Wrestlers off to nationals
They booked their spot in the Ekurhuleni team after their consistency in various tournaments throughout the year.
Five grapplers from the Benoni Wrestling Club (BWC) will represent Ekurhuleni at South African Youth Championships in Pretoria, from October 9 to 11.
Joshua Collins and Nico Zandberg will compete in the U15 division, with Ben Oberholzer and Shaun van Wyngaardt competing in the U11 category. Stian Oberholzer will fight in the U10 class.
According to the BWC, the wrestlers secured their places in the regional team after competing with distinction in numerous tournaments throughout the year and it’s a reward for showing outstanding dedication and skill.
“The club, coaches, and supporters are proud of their hard work and are excited to see them take on the best in the country,” the club’s Adele Oberholzer said.
