WATCH: JMPD issues traffic advisory and road closures for Travis Scott concert at FNB Stadium
Motorists urged to plan ahead as thousands expected to attend Circus Maximus World Tour show in Nasrec.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the highly anticipated Travis Scott Circus Maximus World Tour concert at FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Saturday, October 11.
The concert will begin at 20:30pm and is expected to end at approximately 23:00.
Early arrivals are anticipated from 9:00, with gates opening at 16:00. VIP and hospitality ticket holders are urged to arrive early to avoid congestion and ensure smooth access.
Road closures
Full road closures will be in effect from 11:00 around the FNB Stadium precinct.
Affected roads include:
* Soweto Highway
* Golden Highway
* Nasrec Road
* Booysens Reserve Road
Specific closures:
* Golden Highway: Closed between Golden Highway, Ring 1 and Soweto Highway (authorised vehicles only).
* Nasrec Road: Closed between Recreation Road and Shaft 17 Road (access for pre-paid parking via Recreation Road).
* Soweto Highway: Closed between Mentz Street and the N1 offramp.
* Booysens Reserve Road: Closed between Crownwood Road and League Avenue.
Transport options
The JMPD encourages concert-goers to make use of public and organised transport options to ease traffic pressure:
* Park and Ride: Secure parking and return shuttles will be available at key locations including Sandton City, Melrose Arch, Centurion Mall, Montecasino, Clearwater Mall, Cresta, Greenstone, Mall of Africa, Menlyn Park, East Rand Mall, The Glen, Gold Reef City and The Grove Mall.
* Gautrain: Services will run with increased frequency between Park Station and FNB Stadium.
* E-hailing: A designated drop-off zone for ride-sharing services will be provided.
Residents are advised to plan their travel routes carefully and allow extra time for possible delays before and after the event. JMPD urges motorists and attendees to remain patient and prioritise safety throughout the day.
