Benoni SAPS celebrate promotions of officers

SAPS has indicated that the promotion of thousands more officers is still pending and will be announced in due course.

In a move aimed at boosting employee morale, retaining critical skills, and strengthening service delivery, the SAPS has promoted 9 548 police officers across the country to higher ranks.

The promotions form part of the SAPS grade progression process and apply to members who have served in their respective ranks for 10 years or more.

The promotions took effect on December 1, 2025.

At the Benoni Police Station, 11 officers benefited from the promotion process.

According to Benoni SAPS spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele, nine members progressed to the rank of warrant officer, while two officers were promoted to the rank of sergeant.

During a ceremony held in the police station boardroom, Benoni SAPS station commander Brigadier Khumbulani Mbatha congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing their advancement as both recognition and responsibility.

He emphasised that the promotions were not only an acknowledgment of years of dedicated service but also a call to heightened responsibility, discipline, and ethical leadership.

Mbatha urged the officers to lead by example, uphold SAPS values, and maintain professionalism, accountability, and a strong community-centred approach in their daily duties.

At a national level, SAPS National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola said the promotions form part of an ongoing strategic investment to retain skills and develop internal talent for future leadership roles within the organisation.

“This is a wonderful Christmas gift for our dedicated and loyal personnel. These promotions serve as a significant form of recognition and reward for hard work and dedication.

“This acknowledgment will hopefully boost morale and encourage our men and women in blue to perform at their best, leading to increased productivity and overall job satisfaction,” said Masemola
