LETTER: Church is disrupting my Sunday sleep-in
Send you Letter to the Editor to benonicitytimes@caxton.co.za
Gill McKerrow writes:
I’m a live-and-let-live kind of person, but…
The AGS Church Farrarmere has no respect for its close neighbours.
Other residents and I live directly opposite the church doors. Every single Sunday morning, they start just after 07:00, preparing for the Sunday service.
The band and so-called singers are incredibly loud and wake everybody.
This is just not acceptable. People work all week, and the least these “church” people could do is close the doors, so we are not subjected to a rude awakening by all the screeching noise.
Please! Will somebody have a word with them?

Editor’s note: Barry Momberg, the assembly co-ordinator, AGS Farrarmere, responds: We thank the Benoni City Times for bringing to our attention a complaint of a neighbour living in close proximity to our assembly, AFM Farrarmere. The complaint is about a ‘noise disturbance’ relating to our sound checking before our morning service. I’m sure the complaining neighbour already experienced less noise this Sunday past (February 8), as I have specifically ordered the outer doors closed while we perform our morning sound check, as requested. A sound check before the church service, however, remains necessary. As a reasonable church, we will do what we can to moderate the sound. To give readers some further perspective, though, other residents also staying across from the church on the same road have told our pastor that they have their morning coffee sitting on their stoeps, to take a quiet moment and enjoy our worship. Anyone who wishes to speak to us in this regard is most welcome to do so and may contact me directly on 072 967 7085.
