Lewis-Enright podiums at national champs
He won two silver medals in the road race and individual time trial at the South African Road, Para and Individual Time Trial Championships.
Cyclist Paul Lewis-Enright said that since competing in the masters’ 50-54 category for the first time five years ago, the road has been nothing short of incredible.
Lewis-Enright, from Rynfield, claimed two silver medals at the South African Road, Para and Individual Time Trial Championships in Walkerville, Midvaal, earlier this month.

The two-time national road champion clocked 42:13 for his second place in the master men’s time trial, finishing 15 seconds behind winner David Labuschagne.
In the road race, which he won for the first time in 2022 and successfully defended the following year, he crossed the line in 03:13:25, 24 seconds behind champion Kenton Kirkwood.
A week later, he clocked 03:09:43 for fifth place in his category at the Ride for Sight at Boksburg City Stadium, citing consistency and dedication over the past five years for his success on the national stage.

“The SA championships delivered a remarkable milestone for me. After five years competing in the 50 to 54 category, the road has been nothing short of incredible,” he said.

“On the road events, I’ve clinched two golds and, this year, a silver. In the time trial, I have three bronze medals and added a silver to my tally, a testament to five years of relentless dedication.”

He shared his gratitude to his family, coach Jeremy Maartens of Bike Craft Performance in Farrarmere, and the TEG Pro Cycling Team for their support.
“I’m elated to stand on the podium again. These moments remind me why I push so hard. The future is bright, and I can’t wait to see what’s next as I keep chasing new heights.

“The journey to this success wasn’t easy. My preparation, guided by coach Jeremy Maartens, was meticulous. Each training session was built with precision, and every race strategy was fine-tuned.
“I couldn’t have achieved this without the unwavering support of my family, my wife, Doña, and son, Conor, who were my rocks every step of the way. And, of course, my team, TEG, played a crucial role in creating a supportive, high-performance environment”
