SARS Johannesburg CBD branch relocates to Newtown

Taxpayers are urged to book appointments as SARS moves its Johannesburg CBD services from Rissik Street to Newtown.

Residents who need assistance with services such as filing tax returns during tax season, applying for a tax number or resolving account queries will soon have to visit a new SARS branch in Johannesburg.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) Johannesburg CBD service centre is relocating from its current premises at the corner of Rissik and Albert streets.

According to SARS communication specialist Geraldine Fröhling, the branch will officially open at its new location from 09:00 on May 4.

“The new branch will be based at Shop 137 (Level 1), 100 Carr Street, Newtown Junction Mall and will operate under the name SARS Newtown JHB Service Centre,” she said.

The branch will operate from 08:00 to 16:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 09:00 to 16:00 on Wednesdays.

Fröhling said all existing services will still be available at the new location and will be offered by appointment.

Appointments can be booked via the SARS website by selecting the “Book an Appointment” option, by sending an SMS with the word “Booking” followed by an ID number to 47277, or by using the SARS MobiApp.

Tips for taxpayers:

  • Book your appointment in advance to avoid delays.
  • Bring all required documents, including your ID and tax reference number.
  • Use SARS eFiling where possible to save time.
  • Ensure your personal and banking details are up to date.
  • Plan your trip to the new branch to avoid getting lost or arriving late.
