Putfontein speedster behind bars

The EMPD is cracking the whip on motorists driving recklessly and endangering the lives of others.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Putfontein on May 20 on charges of reckless and negligent driving.

“EMPD Bronberg Precinct officers spotted the motorist driving recklessly, disobeying traffic signals and over-taking other motor vehicles by passing into oncoming traffic,” said EMPD spokesperson, chief superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

“Attempts to bring the driver to a stop resulted in a high-speed chase; however, it was tactically brought to a stop at the corner of Lurie and Kerk streets.”

Upon his arrest, the man alleged that he was unaware that law enforcement officers were attempting to bring him to a stop.
