Feralspunky promises knockout finish against Lekana at EFC 134

“My chin is still strong while his has already been compromised.”

Boksburg fighter Godfrey ‘Feralspunky’ Mkhwanazi is well aware of William ‘Ragnar’ Lekana’s knockout power, but the bantamweight contender insists he is eager to test exactly how dangerous his opponent really is when they clash at EFC 134 on June 4.

The bout forms part of the promotion’s main televised card, headlined by the women’s flyweight title showdown between champion Amanda ‘Mad Dog’ Lino and Nigerian bantamweight champion Juliet Chukwu.

“I’m aware of my opponent’s knockout power, and I’m looking to test how much power he actually has,” said Mkhwanazi.

“It’s easy to give it in this sport, but the big determining factor is whether you can take it. From his past performances, I’ve seen he isn’t as good on the receiving end.”

Lekana heads into the contest on strong form after securing back-to-back technical knockout victories over Nicholas Vermaak and Allistar Kunene.

However, Mkhwanazi will also enter the octagon full of confidence after his own TKO victory over Kunene at EFC 129 in November.

The 25-year-old Godfather MMA fighter believes his durability could prove decisive against the Secunda-based Lekana, who has suffered a knockout defeat during his professional career.

“I’ve never been knocked out before, and I’ve never faced a referee’s stoppage due to strikes,” said Mkhwanazi.

“My chin is still strong while his has already been compromised.”

Mkhwanazi has been eager to return to action after his scheduled April fight against Rudolf Sekhukune was cancelled because of his opponent’s injury withdrawal.

Despite the disappointment, he believes the extra preparation time has sharpened his skills ahead of the June showdown.

“I was booked to fight in April, but unfortunately, that fight was cancelled after my opponent pulled out because of an injury,” he explained.

“However, I’ve been preparing since the beginning of the year and with my new opponent for the June 4 bout, I’m confident in the time I’ve had to hone my skills.”

Known for his aggressive and entertaining fighting style, Mkhwanazi promised fans another explosive performance and vowed to do whatever is necessary to leave the cage victorious.

“In my past matches, whether it’s been a win or a loss, my stock price has always increased,” he said.

“This one will be no different. I’m looking to get the win, whether it’s by knockout, submission or outclassing him on the scorecards. Every scenario I envision ends with my hand being raised at the end of the night.”

The co-main event will feature a flyweight clash between Sisa Jungula and Thapelo ‘The Phenomenal One’ Seabi, while veteran Vince Bembe takes on Khanyo Maqam in a lightweight contest.

Tebatso ‘The Glory of Torture’ Molele and Zimbabwean fighter, Lecture ‘The Mafia’ Gumbi, will open the main televised card in a flyweight bout.

The main card gets underway at 19:00.
