#Comrades2026: Novices share what they are looking forward to

They are part of the 33 Benoni Northerns Athletic Club novices who will participate in the Comrades Marathon for the first time on Sunday (June 14).

Kaleigh Austin: I’m looking forward to the experience, crossing that finish line and knowing I can do it.
Liam McMillan: The challenge of the day. I’ve been watching the Comrades Marathon for many years. I know the challenges that lie ahead. I’m really looking forward to experiencing those for the first time and enjoying the vibe.
Bright Mikolongwe: It’s my first time running the Comrades. According to my training, I’m ready. I’m going to run, enjoy myself and finish. I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line. That’s the main focus.
Nelson de Carvalho: I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line and making sure I get that small medal. That’s all I’m thinking about right now.
Joshua Nixon: I’m looking forward to the challenge and the goal, which is obviously to finish and enjoy it, also the atmosphere, people and crowds. I’ve heard a lot about it, and I’m looking forward to getting that medal at the finish line.
