Old Bens FC U8 premier side wins league

They started the season competing in league one before earning promotion to the premier league midway through the season.

The Old Bens Football Club U8 Premier team has completed a remarkable season, finishing top of the log and three points clear after beginning the year in League One.

The boys and girls started the season strongly and dominated the League One competition, earning a promotion to the Premier League midway through the season.

The promotion brought an added challenge, as the team had several outstanding fixtures to catch up while still completing the remainder of their Premier League schedule.

Despite the pressure, the players and their coach, Shaun Francis, rose to the challenge.

Competing against clubs including Benoni Spurs, Benoni Northerns, Edenvale FC, Blaugrana, Rovers, Highlands and Bundas, the Old Bens youngsters showed tremendous determination and commitment throughout the season.

They also enjoyed an impressive Cup campaign, progressing all the way to the semi-finals.

Francis said the achievement is about far more than simply finishing first.

“What makes me most proud is the determination, growth and development we have seen in every player. They were asked to step up to a higher level halfway through the season, and they responded with incredible teamwork, resilience and commitment. Watching them grow individually and as a team has been the biggest achievement of all,” said Francis.

“Finishing three points clear at the top of the log, while also reaching the Cup semi-finals, is an exceptional achievement for this young team and a proud moment for the players, myself, families and Old Bens Football Club,” Francis added.
