Store employees start a soup kitchen

They have served porridge, soup and dumpling to the needy people of Benoni

The Bradlows Prince’s Avenue team has started a soup kitchen for the needy, which operates every Friday morning.

Over the past few weeks, they have, under the theme ‘Action against Poverty’, served porridge, soup and dumplings outside the store.

According to the store manager, Francinah Legodi, the initiative kicked into life after they noticed a number of homeless people in the vicinity of the store.

Holding their cup of warm porridge are some of the homeless people who live around the Benoni plaza with some of the Bradlows employees.

“We have learnt that it’s not only drug addicts who live around the Benoni plaza, but other desperate people, including a young mother who needs help.

“We collectively decided to put in whatever money we can from our own pockets towards the soup kitchen to make a difference in someone’s life.

“Even though we all struggle, giving the needy a meal once a week goes a long way,” said Legodi.
