Sensei receives national colours

He also won the male veteran competitor of the year award.

The New World Shotokan (NWS) Karate Crystal Park Dojo instructor sensei Louis Ramakulukusha obtained his Karate South Africa (KSA) national colours after successfully representing the country at the Region V Karate Championship in Durban in May.

He was also awarded the Gauteng Karate Federation (GFK) elite coach of the year 2022 award. Furthermore, he won the GKF’s male veteran competitor of the year.

The NWS’s Kayleen Chetty received the GKF best female cadet of the year award.

“I was caught by surprise. I am still trying to process that I won the award as I did not expect to win. Overall I am thrilled and grateful for both my awards,” she said.

Kayleen and Ramakulukusha were both awarded double GKF colours in kata and kumite.

Ramakulukusha’s counterpart Takis Chaniotakos was added to the Gauteng Sport Confederation hall of fame for his contribution to karate in Gauteng.

“I am deeply moved and humbled to witness my friend and colleague sensei Louis attain awards for the best coach and senior veterans athlete and also earn his Gauteng colours together with my student Kayleen Chetty for 2022,” said Chaniotakos.
