Northerns and CBC T20 encounter ends in thrilling draw

The match went to the last ball as both teams scored 134 runs to share the spoils.

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club and CBC Boksburg shared the spoils in a pulsating Easterns Cricket T20 premiership tie in Northmead on October 16.

Nothing could separate the two clubs as they each scored 134 runs to share the points in their pool A tie.

Northerns’ Vaughn Humphrey and Matthew Smit scored 45 and 41 respectively to help their team reach 134/7 in their 20 overs.

Rynaro de Lange was CBC’s pick of the bowlers, taking 3/24 while Sherwin Pillay grabbed two scalps. Robert Mutch and Rickus Neathling contributed with one wicket apiece.

Pillay’s all-round performance saw him score 34 runs for his team with Jardon du Preez (22) and Michael Weldon (25) also contributing with the bat to end CBC’s innings on 134/8.

The home side’s Brett Martindale grabbed three wickets while Mekyle Pillay and Lance Humphrey took two wickets each. Len Killen took Northerns’ other wicket.

Northerns will welcome Kwa-Thema on October 23 at 09:00. They will also travel to Willowmoore Park to face Geluksdal at 13:30 in the afternoon match.

CBC take on Geluksdal at 09:00 at Willowmoore Park also on October 23.
