LETTER: Congratulations to the labour department in Benoni
It was a really uplifting experience!
Barbara Wentworth writes:
I want to commend the Labour Department in Benoni.
I went to de-register my domestic worker from UIF as she is retiring at the end of the year. I visited the department recently.
We arrived and waited in line outside. My domestic worker filled in the register at the door and we waited to be admitted. The queue outside the department was very well organised and controlled.
We eventually were invited into the building and were directed to the seats inside and told which cubicle would attend to us.
We were dealt with by a man named Stephen and I can only say that his service was outstanding!
With their new computer system, he guided me through the process of declarations that were required.
He spent at least one hour helping us. He then explained the way forward for my domestic worker and we left satisfied.
It was an uplifting experience.
