Police operation a success

"We addressed the threats of hijacking and theft of motor vehicles in the district where Toyota Quantum mini buses are targeted."

The SAPS recovered several stolen vehicles and car parts and apprehended a 45-year-old suspect for possession of stolen property during a multidisciplinary operation in Etwatwa on recently.

According to the district communications officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the operation aimed to address the spate of hijackings and car thefts in the area.

“We addressed the threats of hijacking and theft of motor vehicles in the district where Toyota Quantum mini buses are often targeted.

A Nissan NP200 allegedly stolen in Soshanguve in 2020 was recovered.

“The operation was directed at specific targets. Several chop shops were searched with successful results. We recovered stolen cars and car parts and arrested a 45-year-old suspect,” she said.

Some of the items seized at the three properties that were raided included a Toyota Quantum (engine tampered with), a Toyota Hilux engine, and two axle trailers valued at about R3m.
