Son arrested for mom’s murder in Crystal Park

A 63-year-old woman died after she was stabbed and had her throat slit allegedly by her son (36) at their home in Crystal Park on March 8.

According to Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli, police received a complaint at around 20:15 and proceeded to the given address.

“When police arrived at the house, they found the woman lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the upper body,” said Mopeli.

The son was found inside the house and was holding a knife believed to have been used in the murder of his mother.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Crystal Park SAPS.

He has appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
