Join Siyakunakekela’s fundraiser in Morehill to help fight GBV

They are aiming to raise R30 000 towards free training for the community in self-defence.

A non-profit company is hosting a fundraiser in Morehill on March 18 to help in their work against ending the scourge of gender-based violence.

Amber Raine, one of the instructors of the NPC called Siyakunakekela, explained that they are aiming to raise at least R30 000.

“The money will all go towards the training in self-defence of girls and women across Gauteng, as well as the production of our biodegradable sanitary pads, which we distribute to those in need.

“As a non-profit company at the forefront of the fight against GBV, we offer free self-defence courses at schools and in informal settlements for girls and women to learn to protect themselves. We supply free sanitary pads to hundreds of girls and women in need every month and we also sanitise and clean pit toilets at township schools,” she said.

The fundraiser promises to be lots of fun for the whole family, with jumping castles running all day for the children to enjoy.

There will be boerewors rolls and drinks on sale and the lucky draw is R10 per ticket. The draw takes place at 17:00.

“We rely solely on the generosity of others to do our amazing work in the various communities, so come along and support us,” Amber said.
