Community assaults EMPD officer

The residents barricaded the streets with burning tyres and rocks.

An EMPD officer was assaulted this afternoon (June 22) by angry community members in Emaphupheni, Etwatwa, during an anti-land invasion operation led by the EMPD.

According to EMPD media liaison officer Lerato Monyane, the officer was hit on the head with an unknown object when he and colleagues dismantled structures at a site targeted by land invaders.

The residents barricaded the streets with burning tyres and rocks.
