Benoni’s two-time Olympian Lythe Pillay has secured a high-profile endorsement deal with Swiss sportswear brand On.

On announced the addition of the 2024 400m national champion to its global athlete roster earlier today.

“Lythe is an exceptional talent whose ambition and underdog spirit perfectly mirror our own journey,” said On’s athlete manager, Silja Mühlebach.

Mühlebach said by signing the Brentwood Park resident, they are tapping into SA’s rich sprinting heritage.

Pillay celebrated the collaboration in style on March 14 at the CGA track and field championships at the UJ Athletics Stadium.

Wearing a pair of On spikes, the 2022 World U20 champion powered to victory in the senior men’s 400m in 44.33 seconds. This was the second-fastest time of his career, falling short of smashing his lifetime best of 44.31.

The Arbor Primary alumnus said the partnership feels natural, citing a strong alignment with the brand’s vision and values as he continues to build momentum on the global stage.

“The support and energy from On has been nothing short of exciting and inspiring. They are just as invested in my future, goals and ambitions as I am and have shown me massive support already,” said Pillay.

The Central Gauteng athlete said the collaboration excites him.

“I do believe that my team and On can not only reach the highest attainable goals in the sport, but can also show the world how to push and pioneer human and technological limits.

“We are both at a point in our lifespan where we are on the verge of establishing ourselves as household names and placing ourselves among the heavy hitters in the sport and industry.”
