After more than two decades of rolling up his sleeves, a Benoni resident is showing no signs of stopping.

On October 4, Gerhard Roos (67) made his 600th blood donation at Alberton Donor Centre.

He has been donating blood for more than 20 years and also donates blood plasma and blood platelets.

Roos travels from Benoni to the new Alberton City South African Blood Donation Centre to make his life-saving donations.

He said he will continue to give blood until he is unable to do so.

“I have been donating blood for many years, I know it has value and I can help people. I won’t be able to do it forever but I will go on with it,” said Roos.
