Wind down your mind together with your year

With a year jam-packed with activity coming to an end, I like to set my mind accordingly and start afresh.

This might be associated with the whole “new year’s resolution” ideal which many claim do not last for long.

In my opinion it is all about your approach and mindset.

Sure, you can make changes and take on new challenges at any time of the year.

However, I think the end of the year is an ideal time to slow down, take a deep breath and assess your lifestyle.

Usually business, commercial events and society slows down during this time, giving you space to do so.

From previous experience I have realised that by looking back at my year and where my choices have gotten me at a slower, clearer pace, I have gained better clarity of where I need to make adjustments.

What I mean by winding down is to conclude your year in your mind.

If you have made bad choices, set your mind that they are done and in the past.

Do not be too harsh on yourself if you have not achieved what you wanted to.

As our editor often says; look at it as a learning curve.

Something else I have learned is that you should not be thrown off by bad experiences.

Everyone has bad experiences; your success rate is a result of your choices that follow.

Good advice to keep in mind while doing this is to assess with a positive mindset.

Focus on your positive traits, choices and resources and think of how you can better yourself using these.

It is important to clearly define what it is that you want to do.

I have found myself lacking ambition when I am not sure what I am aiming at.

Although you should set your goals realistically, you should not limit your dreams.

Believe that you are capable of achieving your innate dreams; otherwise you would not have been born with them.

If you want something hard enough, you will work for it hard enough.

If you have accomplished what you wanted to, try something completely new.

Clear your thoughts and see what a fresh mindset can do for you.

You can look at it as continuing one novel, or starting a new chapter.

The choice is yours and you are doing it for nobody but yourself.TB
