Old Bens thrash Bonaero
Old Bens Football Club's first team beat Bonaero 74 by a large margin on Saturday, July 27.
Old Bens Football Club’s first team dished out a 5-1 thumping against Bonaero 74, on Saturday, July 27.
The ELFA Super League Seniors Division Two match, played at Bonaero 74, was dominated by the Benoni team and, according to Dave Clarke, the Old Bens first team coach, the score could have been a lot higher in Old Bens’ favour if the players had capitalised on all the chances that were presented.
Bonaero managed to get one goal, courtesy of a defensive error, but it was Bens who ran riot on the day.
Andrew Carter scored the first of Old Bens’ goals and Thumi Sefama netted a brace.
Lesiba Modau was the “comeback kid” after scoring a goal in his first game back since breaking his leg about five months ago, while Jetson Cloete scored the fifth goal for Clarke’s chargers.
“We haven’t had too many wins this season,so it was great to win by such a big margin,” said the coach.
“The game was played in good spirits and if the boys continue trying and playing good football then we can do well in the league.”
