Monday twilight at Munies
Benoni Municipal Bowling Club is rapidly recovering and the rumours that were doing the rounds that Munies had closed down have been laid to rest.
The club have managed to retain their first division status and are fielding a competitive side in the Saturday League.
From the start of November, Munies have hosted quite a famous bowls tournament – the Monday Twilight “Shirts” competition.
The mixed gender tournament is played in a 10 ends pairs format, from 5pm to 6pm, over six weeks, on Monday evenings.
It has been going for at least 15 years and there is always a long waiting list of players hoping to be invited to fill the famous Munies greens.
The tournament still attracts some of the best bowlers from the surrounding areas.
