Upcoming sporting events in and around Benoni.

Swimming

The Nature Valley/aQuellé Ebotse Swim Challenge takes place at Rynfield Dam on Sunday, January 12. The event is an official Midmar Mile seeding event. Event one will be the 3km swim for all ages, starting at 7.30am; event two will be the girls u-13 and women’s 31 years and over 1km swim; event three will see the u-13 boys and 31 years and older 1km swim; event four is the 1km swim for men and women between the ages of 14 and 30, while a fun swim will be held at 12.10pm. Cricket

The Unlimited Titans take on the Chevrolet Warriors at Sahara Park Willowmoore on Wednesday, January 15, at 6pm. For more information contact Eastern Cricket Union on 011 746 9000.

Benoni Northerns Cricket Club’s Premier XI take on KwaThema at the Northern Areas A-Field, and Actonville Spurs Cricket Club’s Premier XI will face CBC Old Boys at Lords Cricket Grounds, on Sunday, January 12, in the Eastern Premier League. The first delivery in both matches will be bowled at 9.30am.

Bridge

Benoni Bridge Club hosts bridge lessons to raise a player’s standard from intermediate to advanced, every Wednesday, at 11.30am (lasting 75 minutes), at the club. For more information visit www.benoni.vze.com or contact Sid Ismail on 082 411 9900.

Running

Five kilometre Parkrun and walk held at Ebotse every Saturday morning at 8am. Entry is free, dogs on leads are welcome. Register at www.parkrun.co.za.

Bowls

Sunday Blitzbowls at Benoni Municipal Bowling Club for any interested players, including families, new bowlers and established bowlers. Play starts at 10am and ends at noon. Bowls and coaching are also available from 9am. Contact Loraine Botha on 082 921 5195.
