Old Bens pick up another three points
Following their 3-1 win over Olympia last week, Old Bens Football Club’s first XI continued where they left off by bagging another three points at home to Parktonians in the ELFA Seniors Division Two on Saturday.
Coach Raymond Cloete’s men started well and were on top of their opponents for about 70 per cent of the game.
A first-half goal Jethson Cloete volley that came from a well-placed Dean Steyn cross in the 35th minute was enough to give Bens a 1-0 victory and their second win of the campaign.
The result also means that the team remains in first place in the division after three fixtures.
According to the coach, the team once again created numerous chances and could have easily extended their lead had it not been for a number of strikes that rattled the Parktonians woodwork.
He reserved praise for three players who had standout games; striker Lesiba Modau and centre-backs Dale Skinner and Kagiso “Gee” More.
“It’s another good win for us and it is nice to stay on top although there is still a long way to go,” Cloete said.
Meanwhile the Old Bens second team paid the price for being three players short as they were comprehensively beaten 5-0 to Parktonians prior to the first team kick-off.
