Pigeons officially spread their wings

On Friday, June 6, the Benoni Homing Society (BHS) basketed their pigeons for the first official race of the season -- from Winburg, 290km away, with an east-north-east (ENE) wind.

The young birds were liberated at 9.30am and the old birds at 10.15am.

John Field convincingly won the young bird race, with a margin of two minutes and 31 second, and a velocity of 1,271.867mpm.

Jaco Faul dominated the old bird race, taking three of the top five positions and winning with a velocity of 1,290.040mpm.
