Second official race results

The young birds were liberated on Saturday, June 14, at 9.30am and the old birds at 10.15am.

The north-westerly wind helped the pigeons home with an average velocity of 1,400mpm (200mpm) higher than last week.

John Field dominated the young bird race, taking four of the top five positions, including winning the race with a velocity of 1,418.196mpm.

VD Merwes Loft won the old bird race with a velocity of 1,438.332mpm they also won the Gauteng Pigeon Union race.

The top five results from the Winburg race are:

• Young bird results: 1 John Field 1,418.196mpm, 2 John Field 1,418.196mpm, 3 Van Tonder 1,417.348mpm, 4 John Field 1,417.276mpm, 5 John Field 1,417.161mpm.
• Old bird results: 1 VD Merwes 1,438.332mpm, 2 Jaco Faul 1,438.258mpm, 3 Frik and Colyn Nel 1,437.517mpm, 4 Gert De Necker/J Gomes 1,432.190mpm, 5 Young Lofts 1,429.466mpm.
