Bens continue unbeaten run
Following the completion of their home games for the 2014 ELFA Seniors Super League Division Two campaign, on Saturday, August 30, Old Bens Football Club’s first team travelled to Edenvale, on Saturday.

The match marked their penultimate game of the season and, with the team already guaranteed to win the league, motivation was always going to be the main challenge for coach Raymond Cloete’s men in this encounter.
Old Bens could have easily gone 2-0 up within the first 10 minutes, but missed two golden chances.
Midfielder Thamsanqa Hlatshwayo, however, put Bens up courtesy of a towering header, which saw the ball rocket into the corner of the net about 20 minutes later.
Soon after the goal, Edenvale had a great chance to level the scores when they were awarded a penalty.
Old Bens’ goalkeeper Matt Carter pulled off an excellent save to keep the score at 1-0.
In the second half, both teams worked hard to gain the advantage, but both defences held out to see the game end at 1-0, in favour of the team from Benoni.
The victory means that they will remain unbeaten going into their final game, on Saturday, against Germiston City.
