BCC pair wins home tourney

The annual Benoni Country Club (BCC) Super Pairs bowls tournament was held over the weekend of August 30 and 31.

Thirty-six top class teams were invited to take part in a two-day, five-match prize money tournament.

Tournament winners, the pairs team of Terence Stopforth and Matt Hannah, both from Benoni Country Club, went through all five rounds undefeated, to clinch the title on the last end, with the last bowl against Piet Ferreira and Kelvin Bain from Alberton.

Runners-up on the day were John Drysdale and Duncan Ross, from Brakpan Mines.

The plate event was won by Willem Viljoen’s team, from Modderbee, the runners-up were Sandy Duigan and Clive Dicks from Boksburg Bowling Club, while third place in the plate went to Ernie Stevens and Deon Labuschagne, from Brakpan Mines.
