Boxers from Harold Volbrecht’s Boksburg-based Hammer Gym strutted their stuff and gave Benoni’s boxing fans a demonstration of their glove skills at the opening of the Fight Shop in Northmead on Saturday, January 31.
Thomas “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen was the big draw-card, ahead of his upcoming clash with Ryno Liebenberg, as he sparred with his coach while other boxers like Johnnie “Hurricane” Muller and Dowayne Combrink also sparred on the day.
British middleweight Martin Murray, training in Johannesburg, made a surprise visit to Benoni. He takes on Gennady Golovkin in Monte Carlo on February 21.
