Tournament to set the tone for awards
Actonville Spurs Cricket Club will be hosting an inter-club six-over-a-side tournament, on Sunday, April 19, at Lords Cricket Grounds, in Actonville.
The tournament will also include the club’s junior teams.
Teams were drawn in an IPL-style format, like last year, and will be the precursor to the awards function on the same day, starting at around 3pm.
The seniors will be split into two groups of three.
The top-placed teams will play the “final”, while the second and third placed teams will also compete in their own playoffs, to eventually determine the positions of first to sixth overall.
The format has some twists in it, for example, a wide delivery will result in four runs, whilst the second, third or fourth wides will be six, eight and 10 runs etc.
The third over of every innings will result in whatever score made in that over being doubled.
It is expected to start at 8am.
