Local dojo breaks record
Students from sensei Fareed Ansary’s Yuishinkai Kobujutsu Benoni (YKB) dojos attended a grading session, recently.
A record-breaking 155 students (aged five years old to adult) attended the six-hour session.
Students were put through their paces and were tested on empty hand karate and weapon techniques.
The Benoni-based dojo, established in 1971, when Actonville was known as the Asiatic Bazaar, was officially recognised recently as the dojo that has the largest number of students within its association.
This was, indeed, a momentous occasion for YKB Karate.
Ansary and his students are preparing for a national training seminar, in August, of which hanshi Kisho Inoue, from Japan, will be a part.
The seminar will be based on ”Ki” or ”Chi” energy, aiki-jutsu, weapon training and empty hand karate.
