Actonville gets ready for action

Actonville Spurs Cricket Club (ASCC) is gearing up ahead of the new 2015/2016 Eastern Cricket season.

“We have high expectations this season for our senior players, as many of our Saturday and Sunday league sides performed admirably in the last campaign,” said club public relations officer Zunaid Seedat.

“Certain inconsistencies did stifle the teams from becoming real contenders, but we have full confidence in their abilities as individuals and as a unit.

“We would also like to offer our condolences to the family of Clive Rice.

“South African cricket has lost a giant of the game and a man who encompassed the winning spirit we see within our national team today.”

Seedat and the club invited all the club’s senior players to this season’s Open Day event.

The event serves as an opportunity for the younger players at ASCC to meet the club’s seniors and ask question about the sport in general.

The open day, for player registrations, will take place on Sunday, August 16, at Lords Cricket Grounds in Actonville, from 10am to 1pm.

Seedat advised that all new registrations of both senior and junior players must be accompanied by an ID-sized photograph, as well as an ID number for seniors and a copy of a birth certificate for juniors.

He added that members, parents and guardians are also requested to provide a maximum of two What’s App numbers for the club’s database.
