Delightful affair at Dunblane Derby

Six hundred riders – young and old – saddled up and competed on the day.

“It was epic – total madness,” said Brigitte Karels, owner of the Dunblane Equestrian Centre.

“It was a terrific day and the feedback that we have received indicates that a great time was had by all who took part.”

She added that what made the event great was that all the yards from around the East Rand were together in one place, enjoying the day and the competition.

Karels said that the centre is in the process of introducing a similar event for dressage next year.

The winner of the hotly contested points challenge was the team from Yahweh Schooling and Tuition, with Anuschka Lovgren.

Results from the Grass Derby Arena are:

•  Graded 1.20m/1.30m: 1 N Sime on Eagles Laser (Sunny Park), 2 N Sime on Reach for Gold (Sunny Park), 3 Megan Uren on Zofkas Farriers Genoisseur (Sunny Parks).
•  Training 80cm: 1 T Clarkson on Bella (ECG), 2 C Ellis on FS Nanny McPhee, 3 R Klopper on Eagles Lord Muck.
•  Training 90cm: 1 J van Niekerk on Waaksaam Bok (Serendipity Stables), 2 J Phillips on American Boy.
•  Graded 90cm: 1 C Tully on Alzu She’s A Lady (Weltmeyer), 2 L Riet on Fly by Dubai (Sunny Park), 3 M Maluleke on Ci Shalcon (Sunny Park).
•  Training 1.00m: 1 F Lovgren on Trevan Coca Cabanna (Yahweh).
•  Graded 1.00m: 1 M Winn on Voigtskirch Zidane (Winstead Stables), 2 J Jansen on RS Rocket, 3 J Jurgans on Savuti.
•  Graded 1.10m: 1 K Taylor on Fare Kris (Sunny Park), 2 C Opperman on Brandenburg Chianti, 3 J Phillips on Tannenhof Balalaika.
