Outstanding Old Bens keep charging on

They continued their good run on Saturday away to Alberton with a 3-0 ELFA Super League victory.

This follows their 4-1 win over Sporting at Currin Park the week before.

The team, coached by Raymond Cloete, has put a string of positive results together in recent weeks and according to their coach the last three games in particular have shown that the team is coming together well.

Bens were expecting a difficult encounter in Alberton, but they brushed aside any pre-game concerns by opening the scoring just 28 seconds into the clash courtesy of a sublime diving header from the in-form attacker Lesiba Modau.

He added another 15 minutes later after latching on to a fantastic through ball from Percy Visagie and bursting the top corner of the net with a tremendous volley.

A few minutes later the man of the moment secured a hat trick with his third goal of the match following a goalmouth scramble.

This would ensure a 3-0 win and all three points for Cloete’s men.

“We probably played our best football of the season and should have buried six or seven more goals if it weren’t for some great goalkeeping from the Alberton number one,” said Cloete.

This week they welcome Zwide SL to Currin Park and won’t be resting on their laurels.

The coach also has a selection headache to deal with as all 20 players in his squad are playing well.

“We just need to be a little bit more consistent,” he added.
