Morris plays like Griezmann
Benoni has been something of a breeding ground for a number of professional stars who have plied and who are plying their trade in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
One such youngster, who could be displaying his talent on a big stage in the future, is 12-year old Tristen Morris.
The Tom Newby School pupil, who plays striker or right-wing, is currently turning out for Jomo Cosmos Football Club’s u-13 academy side, after being spotted and invited to trials while playing for Easterns, last year.
The Rynfield resident started playing his football at Benoni Northerns Football Club (BNFC), at the age of four, and has risen through the ranks.
Last year, the talented football player scored 31 goals for BNFC’s u-11 Premier side, and nine goals from eight games for the provincial side.
He has also captained his side at school for the last two years.
Morris has started every game for the u-13 Cosmos Academy side since November, last year, and is making an impression in the South Africa Football Association’s (SAFA) Soweto League, with and against players older than him.
He has shown such skill and ability that he has been nicknamed “Griezmann”, in comparison to French and Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, by his Cosmos teammates.
The youngster aims to continue his development at the academy and eventually go professional with a dream move to England’s Chelsea Football Club on his mind.
