Frith adds parkrun milestone to CV
Benoni’s road running legend Frith van der Merwe, who still holds the Comrades Marathon women’s down run record (with a time of 5:54:43 in 1989) and the Two Oceans women’s 56km record time of 3:30:36 (also in 1989), added another milestone to her glittering resume on Saturday morning, December 2.
Van der Merwe completed her 50th parkrun at the Ebotse parkrun.
Although the milestone at the popular weekly, timed 5km run is not quite the height of winning a Comrades gold medal, van der Merwe said that the parkruns have helped rejuvenate her running.
