Locals wash their hands of 161km ultra-marathon

The locals did it!

Local runners Perry Todd (Benoni Northerns Athletic Club) and Dawie du Toit (Benoni Harriers Athletic Club) took on the monumental task of running and completing the infamous Washie 100 Miler ultra-marathon, dubbed the ‘King of 100 Milers’ from July 28 to 29.

The run covers over 100 miles of rugged road between Cathcart and East London (this year on a new route) with participants given 26 hours to complete it.

Du Toit finished in position number 41 and finished the run in 21 hours, 49 minutes and 43 seconds as the first master runner home.

Todd crossed the line in 23 hours, 19 minutes and 42 seconds to finish in 65th position.
