Provincial, franchise cricket fixtures announced for Benoni for the 2018/2019 season
It is going to be a jam-packed summer of cricket at Willowmoore Park.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on August 27 the franchise fixtures for all three domestic competitions for the 2018/2019 season as well as senior provincial fixtures.
Benoni’s Willowmoore Park will host a number of provincial and franchise matches during the 2018/2019 season.
“With the ICC Cricket World Cup taking place next year from May to July, we have scheduled the Momentum One-Day Cup to be played in February and March,” commented CSA chief executive Thabang Moroe.
“The semi-finals and final will take place immediately after the conclusion of the white-ball part of our home series against Sri Lanka to assist in the preparation of our Standard Bank Proteas for the World Cup.
“The four-day franchise competition will be split into two sections, from September to November and again in December and January, to dovetail with our Test Series against Pakistan.
“With three international teams visiting us in Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in addition to the white-ball tour to Australia, this is going to be a jam-packed season and our longest ever as far as franchise players are concerned.
“The franchise T20 Challenge will be played in April and May.
“It adds up to an exciting, challenging and all-action programme for all concerned,” concluded Moroe.
All franchise competitions will be played over a double round with the two white-ball competitions, then having two semi-finals and a final.
As usual, the Multiply Titans will make use of Willowmoore Park as their second home.
The Easterns Amateur team will also be hoping to cash in on home ground advantage this season.
The fixtures for Benoni are:
• CSA Three-Day Provincial Cup 2018/2019: Easterns vs Boland from October 4, 2018, to October 6, 2018. Easterns vs Gauteng from October 18, 2018, to October 20, 2018. Easterns vs Free State from November 15, 2018, to November 17, 2018. Easterns vs Northerns from February 7, 2019, to February 9, 2019. Easterns vs South West Districts from February 14, 2018, to February 16, 2018.
• CSA Women’s Provincial T20 Fixtures 2018/2019: Easterns vs Mpumulanga on November 4, 2018. Easterns vs Limpopo on January 20, 2019.
• Four-Day Franchise Series 2018/2019: Multiply Titans vs bizhub Highveld Lions from January 14, 2019, to January 17, 2019. Multiply Titans vs VKB Knights from January 28 to January 31, 2019.
• CSA T20 Challenge 2018/2019: Multiply Titans vs Hollywoodbets Dolphins (day/night match) on April 12, 2019, at 6pm.
• Momentum One Day Cup 2018/2019: Multiply Titans vs Warriors (day/night match) on March 8, 2019, at 1.30pm. Multiply Titans vs bizhub Highveld Lions (day match) on March 21, 2019, at 10am.
