Benonian Broughton (6) gets his SA BMX number

The lad has a big future on his BMX.

Joshua Broughton (6) from Northmead recently ended his BMX racing season on a high with the South African Champs Race held at the Pietermaritzburg BMX Track.

The event hosts age group riders from all over the country to compete for a national title number ranging from SA1 to SA8, for all the expert and novice riders.

There were a total of 14 riders in the gate going for a title number.

This meant that six riders would not obtain an SA number board.

Broughton would go on to claim an SA3 number, making him one of the top young riders in the country.

In 2017, he had only been riding for a year and obtained an SA3 title, ensuring he retained his title this year.

He plans to obtain either an SA1 or SA2 title next year.

Broughton has also gone on to win his age group championship for the year in the Gauteng championship.

He received his provincial colours at an awards function on November 24.

His team, the Kenny Meybo team, placed third in the Gauteng champs team event.

He also received trophies for winning his age group as part of Kempton BMX Club events and another trophy for finishing third in nationals in his age group.
