Rowing folk stroke up a storm

The event was simply ‘oar‘some.

St Dunstan’s College Rowing Club welcomed rowers from schools and clubs around the province to their Arrowe Park home base on February 16 for their annual Homestead Rowing Regatta.

Despite wet and rainy conditions in the morning the event still saw approximately 350 people coming through the gates to witness the rowing action.

“Competitors from 15 different Gauteng schools and clubs with ages ranging from 12 to 70 attended our regatta,” said Caryne Lodge, mistress in charge of rowing at St Dunstan’s College Rowing Club.

Afternoon lightning forced the event to end prematurely although the majority of the races had been completed by then.

“Thank you to all who came and supported the regatta and to the St Dunstan’s rowing parents for all their hard work to make this event a success,” added Lodge.
