First local football derby to be played tomorrow
It’s time again for the famous Benoni football derby, played between arch-rivals Old Bens and Benoni Northerns football clubs.
The teams will meet on March 9, at Old Bens’ Currin Park home ground.
With the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Super and Super Reserve leagues just one game into the season, both sides will be hoping to make an early statement in 2019.
Bens finished the 2018 season with two victories to Northerns’ one with a win in the Top Eight Tournament, a win at home and a loss in their away game.
The reserves drew their game in the Top Eight, but won both their home and away games last year.
The reserve sides will kick-off proceedings at 1.45pm, with the first teams playing at 3.30pm.
Fans are encouraged to come out in their numbers and get behind their teams.
Children’s entertainment will be provided on the day.
