Show jumping Strydom from Sunny Park Stables set for Uzbekistan competition

The show jumper will be bolstered by the international experience.

Hailey Strydom from Sunny Park Stables in Benoni Small Farms will compete in the International Children’s FEI show jumping competition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The showgrounds are situated in the Bostanlyk district and the competition is organised by the Equestrian Federation of Uzbekistan.

Sixteen foreign competitors from across the world qualified for the competition as well as four local Uzbekhi competitors.

Strydom is one of two South Africans who have qualified and they will be accompanied by Nicola Sime-Riley, owner of Sunny Park and professional coach and show jumper, who will represent South Africa as the coach for the two riders.

Alexandra Ric-Hansen is the other young rider and she is from KwaZulu-Natal.

The competition will run from April 19 to 21l.

The competitors do not take their own horses and horses from around the district will be pooled for the riders to team up with.

On April 17 the competitors draw their horses and have some time to practice and create a partnership.

The next day they will have a practice round where they get to jump the horses and get to know their teammate.

The first and second qualifier will be taking place on April 19 and 20 with the competitors qualifying for the final.

Results determine the starting order for the final which will take place on April 21.
