Battle of the coaches at EFC 80
These fights headline a 12-bout fight card featuring some of the best in the organisation.
Tension is mounting as the build-up intensifies for EFC 80 at Carnival City on Saturday June 29.
Fans of the popular extreme fighting series are hyped up, in particular, for the main event, which pits rival TFC2 series coaches Garreth “Soldierboy” McLellan and Brendan “Descendant” Lesar up against one another for the interim EFC middleweight championship.
McLellan returns to the EFC hexagon for the first time in nearly five years. Few fans will forget the bearded fighter’s classic victory over Dricus du Plessis in 2014 which launched his international career under the UFC banner.
Lesar claimed top honours in the first season of the ‘The Fighter’ series and has battled his way through some of the world’s best undefeated prospects. In the words of both fans and pundits: “He is not a man you want to bet against.”
An intriguing battle is also expected when Conrad “Cage Wise” Seabi and Luke ‘Young Gun” Michael face one another in the second leg of the EFC welterweight Grand Prix.

Bad blood between the two bitter rivals has been a hallmark of the build-up since the fight was first slated for EFC 78, spilling over into last week’s face-off, and an explosive bout is expected. The winner will be named the official number one EFC welterweight contender and face Themba Gorimb for the vacant title.
The TF2 finale also features as the co-main event, with the two women’s finalists from the hit reality TV show that has featured on screens for the past nine weeks battling it out for bragging rights.
The stakes are high, with the victor landing a six-figure EFC contract and a guaranteed shot at EFC women’s flyweight gold against reigning double-division champion, Amanda ‘Mad Dog’ Lino.
